About Us

These awesome educators are the masterminds behind the Tuscarora School District Choice Boards.

The Choice Boards, also known as GRIDs, were originally intended for the FID, or Flexible Instruction Day, when we have snow days. FIDs are days that the school can count as instructional time towards the 180 day requirement for students. This means that while students are at home engaging in activities that are promotive to their social, emotional, and cognitive growth, the school can count it as a day, instead of losing a day due to snow/ice.

However, because there was a gap in learning due to the COVID-19 crisis, school district administrators looked at the Choice Boards as an opportunity to seize. Instead of restricting the Choice Boards to winter snow days, the team was asked to provide grade-level activities over the summer.

From there, it was decided to reward students for their hard work and dedication to their studies through a raffling system.
